Rachel Stokes, PT, DPT, CLT
Dr. Rachel Stokes joined the Empower team in December 2022. She moved to Anchorage from Pittsburgh, PA as a military spouse and immediately fell in love with Alaska.
Rachel earned a business degree from Geneva College in Beaver, PA, but after finding the corporate world unsatisfying, ultimately returned to Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA for her Doctorate in Physical Therapy where she could pursue her true passion – Pelvic Health PT. She also has an Associate in Psychology degree from the Community College of Allegheny County which she applies to better navigate the tough and sensitive conversations that can come along with this field, to include providing Trauma-Informed Care.
She completed clinical rotations in orthopedics and her specialty, received one-on-one training from experts in Pelvic Health, and has worked with all ages and genders from 2020 to 2022 as a Pelvic Health and Lymphedema PT before joining Empower. She is a Klose course certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) and is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy.
In her free time, and even in all weather conditions, she and her husband enjoy all the adventure to be had in Alaska, including cross-country skiing, biking, and hiking through the mountains with their three dogs. She also loves adding in some self-sustainability to her life by growing her own vegetables and can’t wait to catch a few fish.
As a PT, she believes “to empower” means to help people regain the movement and control of their own bodies, and is excited to be part of a team which shares that approach.
